Primary Practice Talk - CHA Jeamin

Primary Practice Talk - CHA Jeamin

• Date & Time: Friday, February 6, 2026, 6:00–7:30 PM (approx. 90 minutes)
• Venue: Primary Practice, 7 Changuimun-ro 11-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul
• Panel: CHA Jeamin (artist), Serena Sungah CHOO (Independent Curator), KIM Sung Woo (Curator, Primary Practice)

An artist talk will be held at 6 PM on February 6, 2026 as a companion program to CHA Jeamin’s solo exhibition WATER FALL AND THRILL. Re-reading the artificial landscapes designed by the city as a kind of “habitat,” the artist traces a certain sensibility that emerges from subtly inverting the familiar. The talk will explore the gestures and activities of various beings captured along Hongjecheon Stream, as well as the artist’s own practice of “witnessing” and “recording” them from behind the lens. It will also consider the drawings presented alongside the video as haptic images that translate the artist’s gaze, examining them in relation to the moving image. Finally, the conversation will turn to the rhythm of the video that comes to the fore once verbal narrative is stripped away, and the sound that drives it.

The talk will take the form of a conversation: after a brief introduction to the exhibition, we will proceed with a Q&A based on pre-prepared questions and points for discussion. So, we encourage participants to familiarize themselves with the artist’s previous works and the current exhibition in advance, so you can engage more actively and comfortably in the conversation.
