CHA Jeamin

CHA Jeamin lives and works in Seoul, working across video, performance, and installation. She uses recorded footage rather than synthetic imagery, and questions the possibilities and limitations of visual art and documentary. Through fieldwork and interviews, she accesses the realities of individuals, examining how society permeates the fabric of their lives. Her recent practice is driven by an interest in preserving the unknown — a territory that continues to shrink as technology advances.

She has held solo exhibitions including IMA Picks: Stories of Visible Spectrum (Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul, 2024), Freeze Response (Salzburger Kunstverein, Salzburg, 2024), Troubleshooting Mind I, II, III (KADIST, San Francisco, 2020), Love Bomb (Samyook Bldg., Seoul, 2018), Day for Night (Sindoh Gallery, Seoul, 2015), and Hysterics (DOOSAN Gallery, Seoul, 2013; New York, 2014).
