CHUN Eun seeks the meaning of visual perception—i.e. the act of seeing—through various projects including photography, video, performance, and writing. For some time, she explored different modes of visual, auditory, and haptic communication through collaborations with people with visual or hearing impairments, astronomers, and foley artists. Through various media, Chun pondered upon the question “What can be expressed only through photography?” The construction of a narrative in CHUN’s photographs evokes and amplifies imagination beyond the frames instead of telling a specific story. This way, CHUN delves into the act of seeing. Ultimately, she hopes to face the basic desires of photography and the camera that lie beyond the sense of seeing.
She holds M.F.A in photography at Université Paris VIII(2009), and B.A. in sculpture at Chung-Ang University(2002). She has held solo exhibitions including «Glider»(2020, Gallery2, Seoul). She won the Excellence Prize at SongEun Art Award from SongEun Art and Cultural Foundation, Seoul, Korea(2018) and Amado Photography Award from Amado Art Space, Seoul, Korea(2017).
