The exhibition 𝙒𝘼𝙏𝙀𝙍𝙁𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙏𝙃𝙍𝙄𝙇𝙇 takes the city’s artificial waterfalls, the underpasses and riverbank along Hongjecheon as a single habitat, re-invoking the emotional states of the beings that move through these spaces. If “waterfall” is the pain of a movement that repeats itself in the same place, then “thrill” is the heightened sensation that brushes past us as we watch it, and the exhibition begins from the slippage where these two affects intersect. Through video, drawing, and collage, CHA Jeamin asks how rhythms of staying, enduring, and recovery arise in everyday life, and continuously unsettles what is allowed to become the center. This overlay shifts the city’s peripheries into an affective center, reawakening sensations we had been passing by.
